It’s roots from India, Yoga is thousands of years old. Yoga, which means union in Sanskrit,
yokes mind, body and breath through various practices: devotion, study, meditation and
most common today, Hatha Yoga which combines asana (postures), pranayama (breath control)
and meditation.
The wisdom of Yoga is that it affects each person in his or her entirety: mind, body and emotion.
The science of Yoga realizes that all systems in our bodies work in conjunction with each other
to create health. If one system is off balance the whole is affected. Regardless of which Yogic practice
is followed, the idea is to find a way to live presently, mindfully and more peacefully given our
life’s many obstacles, challenges and realities.
